The Ryan Garcia circus continues after the 25-year-old apparently announced his retirement from boxing after being banned for one year by the New York State Athletic Commission and ordered to return his guaranteed prize money.

Garcia's life has been in a period of great turmoil both before and after his 12-round decision victory over Devin Haney on April 20. Ryan failed to make weight that night and later tested positive for Ostarine, a banned substance, casting doubt on the official result of the contest, which has now been changed to a no-show. Garcia maintained his innocence throughout the investigation and refused to apologize for his behavior.

To further complicate matters, Garcia had spent a lot of time making wild accusations, disclosing his drug abuse habits, and discussing various conspiracy theories. These combined actions obviously caused concerns about his overall mental well-being. Garcia was later arrested for causing thousands of dollars in damage to a hotel.

As for his once-promising boxing career, fighters can easily go a year without ring action during a period of inactivity and return as before, so it remains to be seen how this will affect Garcia's credibility, popularity and long-term income.

“King Ry” has expressed his displeasure about the suspension with a never-ending number of messages on Twitter/X:
