Columbus, Ohio — Noah Powell, who will join Ohio State's men's hockey team as a freshman in the 2024-25 season, is one of 46 players invited to participate in the USA Hockey 2024 World Junior Summer Showcase, which will be held July 26-August 3 at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan, USA Hockey announced Wednesday.

The World Junior Summer Showcase, which also includes players from Canada, Finland and Sweden, serves as an evaluation tool for athletes seeking their place on their respective national teams for the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship. The championship will be held from December 26, 2024 to January 5, 2025 in Ottawa, Ontario.

In addition to daily practices, which are open to the public and free, the week-long World Junior Summer Showcase includes nine international games. Tickets for the games are available by clicking here or visiting the USA Hockey Arena box office. The full WJSS schedule can be found here.

Powell is one of 25 forwards invited to play for Team USA. A native of Northbrook, Illinois, Powell spent the past two seasons in the USHL with the Dubuque Fighting Saints. He was named to the All-USHL second team in 2023-24 after leading the league in goals (43) and power play goals (16). After scoring eight goals and 19 points in 53 regular season games for Dubuque in 2022-23, he had his breakout season in 2023-24, finishing the year with 74 points in 61 regular season games. He also scored five points (2 goals, 3 assists) in 11 postseason games as the Fighting Saints reached the 2024 Clark Cup final.
