A penalty shootout was needed to determine the champion in the boys' under-11 Gold Challenge Cup final on June 1 at Stringham Park in LaGrange, NY.

In the end, the East Fishkill Wolves of the Hudson Valley Youth Soccer League were champions of the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association State Cup. Their match against Soccer Kids NYC of the Cosmopolitan Junior Soccer League was tied 2-2 after regulation time, 3-3 after the second overtime, with East Fishkill winning the penalty shootout 4-2.

“An insane game that came down to a penalty shootout. An unbelievable match!” exclaimed East Fishkills coach Brent Boscarino. “Both teams showed great sportsmanship during a well-run game. A back and forth affair.”

Henry Taylor, Michael Collins and Liam Weiss scored for East Fishkill.

Soccer Kids NYC received the Rocco Amoroso Sportsmanship Award, selected by the match's referees. Amoroso, a U.S. Soccer Life Member who died in 2016, started the Long Island Junior Soccer League Sportsmanship Program in 1980 and spread it to Eastern New York, nationwide, and then to China and Ireland.
