An unannounced strategy for Helldivers 2 has apparently leaked onto the Internet via an email from Sony.

The unnecessary bug, which appeared via an official marketing email to Helldivers, proudly showcases the Airburst rocket launcher, which players unlocked after successfully freeing Penta during Operation Legitimate Undertaking.

There's just one problem: the weapon in the image included in the email isn't the Airburst…or any weapon currently in the game, for that matter. It's a weapon no Helldiver has ever seen before.

Without giving anything away, the weapon doesn't exist in the game yet, which leads many people to believe that it's either a planned teaser of what's to come or a bug. I'll leave it up to you to decide which is the case.

Sony just leaked a new strategy!

It's the latest in a series of mistakes from Sony, starting with the infamous PSN debacle that began earlier this year. In early May, Sony, the publisher of Helldivers 2, announced that players on Steam would soon have to link a PlayStation Network (PSN) account to continue playing. Not only did this lead to a flood of negative reviews from a very disappointed community, but the game was also removed from sale in 177 countries where PSN was not available, forcing Sony to back out of its plans.

Perhaps as a result, Helldivers 2 – PlayStation's fastest-selling game of all time – has seen a decline in player numbers recently. A look at the game's Steam charts shows a steady decline since February, when the game launched. According to SteamDB, at its peak in February, shortly after launch, there were 458,709 concurrent players. In the last 24 hours, the game had a peak of 53.5k players.

Arrowhead Game Studios, developer of Helldivers 2, recently donated $4,311 (£3,397) to the charity Save the Children after Helldivers opted for morality over manslaughter earlier this week.
