TikTok users posted that they ordered Chili's Triple Dipper appetizer platter as a meal. I thought it was great value for money.

  • People who order Chili's appetizer combo as their main dish get millions of views on TikTok.
  • The Triple Dipper comes with a choice of three appetizers and three sauces and typically costs under $20.
  • I tried the viral food and found it to be a lot of food for a relatively low price.

The Triple Dipper is the latest menu item to win over Chili's customers as the chains compete to see who offers the best value.

TikTok videos of people eating and reviewing their Triple Dipper order have been viewed over 30 million times on the app and the product has received a lot of praise.

“If you go to Chili's and you don't get a triple dipper, especially mozzarella sticks with the triple dipper, you're doing something completely wrong,” said the creator of a TikTok video that has been viewed over 5 million times.

Although the triple dipper, which comes with a choice of three appetizers and three sauces, is currently trending, it's nothing new—and longtime fans of this appetizer combination lament how much it's gained popularity due to the online trend.

“I've been getting these for so long and I'm kind of mad that everyone else is now noticing,” one user commented on a TikTok video.

“The Triple Dipper has always been a fan favorite, so I'm excited to see it go viral on TikTok,” said George Felix, Chili's chief marketing officer, in an email to Business Insider. “Part of our brand goal is to create a fun atmosphere in our restaurants, and we're now seeing that spill over to social media, where our guests are showing off all their epic cheese pulls and sumptuous ranch dips.”

To see if the viral menu item was really worth the hype, I ordered it myself at my local Chili's.

The Triple Dipper gives you a choice of three appetizers and three sauces. The prices of most Chili's menu items vary by restaurant, but the appetizer combo is usually under or around $20. At the Chili's location I visited, the combo cost $17.29, not including tax and tip.

Customers can choose from a variety of appetizer options to include on the menu, from bone-in or boneless wings to the chain's Southwestern Egg Rolls, Big Mouth Burger Bites, Chicken Crispers and fried mozzarella.

There is no recommendation as to how many people the Triple Dipper serves, but as an appetizer I would say it is ideal for two people, depending on how many of each dish you order.

The first thing I tried was the fried mozzarella.

Unlike a regular mozzarella stick, Chili's fried mozzarella is larger, almost the size of a hash brown patty. The plate came with two pieces.

It was fried warm and crispy until golden brown, smelled of Italian spices and was served with marinara sauce.

The fried mozzarella was filled with gooey, melted cheese.

When I bit into the fried mozzarella, the cheese flavor was out of this world. The fried mozzarella paired well with the marinara sauce, which had a classic tomato and basil flavor.

The cheese itself was perfectly melted, but the outside was super crispy. I could immediately see why this menu item is such a fan favorite.

The next item at the Triple Dipper was the Big Mouth Burger Bites.

The Big Mouth Burger Bites are Chili's version of sliders. They can be served as a main dish or as part of the triple dipper appetizer combo platter.

The sliders are served with a beef patty, American cheese, bacon bits and sautéed onions.

These sliders satisfied my burger craving perfectly.

I found the two burger bites to be a satisfying portion size and very flavorful, especially when dipped in the chain's ranch dressing. The bacon bits were crispy and salty, and the cheese was perfectly melted over the bite-sized burgers.

The burger patty itself was a little small, but that's to be expected since they were sliders. They were also a little too well done for me – I thought they could have been a little more raw, but that's just my preference.

Of the three starters, I liked the chicken crispers with honey chipotle the best.

The meal included three honey-chipotle chicken crispers, Chili's version of chicken tenders. The tenders were drenched in the spicy-sweet sauce, but were still exceptionally crispy and crunchy.

The chicken was tender and juicy on the inside and the sauce had a lot of flavor.

I really liked the tanginess of the sauce without it being too spicy. These chicken tenders that I dipped in the chain's ranch dressing really blew me away. They were flavorful and I loved the sticky consistency of the sauce that coated every inch of the tenders.

Next time I eat at Chili's, I would definitely order the Triple Dipper instead of an appetizer.

After ordering the Triple Dipper as my meal, I knew why it went viral. Not only were all three dishes extremely delicious, but I also thought this meal was great value for money.

With the price of restaurants and even fast food on the rise, the Triple Dipper for $17.29 seemed like a great deal, especially considering how much I got. For comparison, most Chili's entrees cost between $14 and $30 at my local restaurant in Glendale, New York.

I arrived at Chili's very hungry, but still couldn't finish the huge appetizer plate. Chili's motto is, “If you leave hungry, that's your problem” – and the chain's embrace of this trend proves it's committed to that message.
