Indian Army celebrates Yoga Day at high altitudes

Indian Army personnel celebrated International Yoga Day 2024 at several locations, including Leh in eastern Ladakh and Muguthang sub-sector in north Sikkim, where they practiced yoga at an altitude of over 15,000 feet.

The Border Security Force (BSF) also released photos of its soldiers practicing yoga at the zero line at Joint Check Post, Attari in Amritsar. The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) is actively promoting yoga in various regions along the Himalayan mountain range on the India-China border, such as Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Uttarakhand. The Consulate General of India in new York shared photos from the International Day of Yoga 2024 celebrations at Times Square. According to their post, “@IndiainNewYork celebrated the 10th International Day of Yoga at the iconic @TimesSquareNYC! The day-long solstice celebration at @TimesSquareNYC featured seven yoga sessions attended by about 10,000 people from all nationalities, demonstrating the widespread enthusiasm for yoga in the city. Consul General @binaysrikant76 welcomed the participants and highlighted the benefits of yoga for physical health and mental well-being, and its role in promoting harmony with nature.”

Jackie Shroff's message for Yoga Day

On International Yoga Day, Bollywood star Jackie Shroff advised paparazzi in Mumbai to stay calm and pay attention to their breathing. As they left an event, photographers surrounded Shroff and spoke loudly. In a video shared by ANI, Jackie can be heard saying, “Saans le lamba, itna chilla raha hai, heart ke lafde ho jayenge, araam se re, mera bacha aaram se (Take a deep breath. Why are you shouting so much? Your heart will be affected. Relax.)”
