Team managers and head coaches of former American Legion Baseball teams must submit their nominations for the American Legion Baseball Scholarship to the department headquarters by July 15.

The American Legion awards scholarships of between $22,000 and $25,000 each year to deserving baseball players. Each division baseball committee may select one player from their division to receive this scholarship. The American Legion awards several scholarships each year, depending on the number of applicants and the interest earned from the trust fund.

Any team manager or head coach of an American Legion affiliated team may nominate a player for this award. The scholarship application, letters of recommendation and certificate form must be completed, stamped and returned to the division headquarters no later than July 15. Three letters of recommendation must be included with the nomination form.

Department Baseball Scholarship winners receive $500. Each certified Department Baseball Scholarship winner will be considered for the American Legion All-Academic Team sponsored by Diamond Sports.

Eight players selected by a scholarship selection committee at the American Legion World Series will receive an additional $2,500 scholarship. A ninth player selected as the most outstanding member of the All-Academic team will receive an additional $5,000 scholarship.
