The Vicksburg teens decided not to spend the summer in bed or at the beach. Instead, Fabian Moore, Corderrion Valentine, Devin Banks and Felton Moore threw themselves into the workforce and all took jobs at Burger King in Clinton, Mississippi.

One day, Valentine's mother Shakayla Dixon, who is a manager at Burger King, asked her son if he wanted to work with her. He reluctantly accepted the task, but Corderrion also had the idea of bringing his friends/basketball teammates so they could all earn some extra money.

“We wanted money for ourselves so we wouldn't always have to ask our parents,” Valentine said. “I thought it would be fun to work with my friends and not have to ask my mom and dad for everything,” added 15-year-old Banks.

These teenagers work about six hours a day, four to five days a week, learning at a young age that nothing in this world is free.

“I plan on buying new shoes and everything else I need because I know it's important to have something of my own,” said 15-year-old Fabian. “I'm going to spend my money on school clothes and save for college,” added 17-year-old Felton.

Faced with the high number of violent acts involving young people, these men concluded that it was more important to make money than to cause chaos in the community.

“We could be out here shooting and being violent, but we have chosen to work,” Corderrion preached. “I hope this motivates young people around the world to stay out of trouble.”

These teens received a lot of attention after Dixon shared the post on Facebook, which was shared over 5,000 times and liked over 10,000 times.

A short time later, comedian and television presenter Nick Cannon shared the children's story on Instagram, which received almost 100,000 likes.

With all the negative news, it's exciting to see young people choosing the right path and improving their futures. All four teens are also basketball players at Vicksburg High School.
