As part of the nationwide protests against alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG exam and possible compromise of the integrity of the UGC National Eligibility Test (NET), which was cancelled earlier this week, the Tripura unit of the Congress took to the streets of Agartala on Friday.

The party also demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and burnt a doll of Pradhan.

Speaking to the media, Congress president Ashish Kumar Saha said that no action had been taken against Pradhan nor had he taken any action himself.

Incidents of paper leaks Cases of corruption are being reported in the country. The youth are worried. Though cases are being brought before courts in all states, the education minister claims there is no corruption,” Saha said.

Sudip Roy Barman, a member of the Congress Working Committee, demanded the resignation of the Union Education Minister. He also said the exams should be scrapped and new ones should be conducted to give a chance to bright students.

Festive offer

“In the seven years of the Modi government, nearly 70 cases of paper leakage have taken place across the country. There is no conviction of the culprits who made money through paper leakage. This is a corrupt government. The Modi government is a paper leaking government. Not a single word is heard from Modi,” he said.

The protests came a day after the student wing of the CPI(M) Students Federation of India (SFI) burnt mannequins of the Indian Education Minister and demanded strict action against those involved in the paper leaks and compromising the integrity of the NEET-UG and UGC NET exams.
