On Friday, at least one Duke basketball recruiter was there when Bellaire High School (Texas) forward Shelton Henderson scored 28 points during a game at the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Boys Showcase in the Dallas area, 247Sports' Brandon Jenkins reported. But that's not the only sign that Duke basketball has recently become increasingly interested in the 6-foot-6, 220-pound four-star prospect.

Henderson, the receive an offer by Blue Devil head coach Jon Scheyer last week, who is in his third year and now on the verge of five-star status with his No. 26 ranking in the 247Sports 2025 Composite, recently confirmed that he plans to attend Duke in the fall.

And on Thursday night, the 17-year-old slugger told 24/7 High School Hoops that he had set the dates for his trip to Durham, as well as a visit to another ACC school, Louisville, a month earlier. He will begin a three-day official visit with the Cardinals on Aug. 23 before visiting the Blue Devils on Sept. 27-29, which is also an official visit.

Aside from an unofficial trip to Durham a few weeks later, it doesn't appear that Henderson plans to participate in the Duke basketball program's annual Countdown to Craziness at Cameron Indoor Stadium. However, he should get the opportunity to spend time with the 2024-25 team and watch the players in preseason workouts.

Only 10 prospective high school graduates have received an offer from Jon Scheyer and his colleagues.

The Blue Devils, who have had the best haul in the country in two of the last three recruiting phases, have yet to land their first 2025 signing, but they still appear to be in contention for most of their targets, including, of course, Shelton Henderson.
