Rafael Espinoza will defend his WBO featherweight title against his Mexican compatriot Sergio Chirino on June 21, Top Rank announced on Friday.

The fight will be the highlight of a Top Rank Boxing event on ESPN+ at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas, confirming earlier reports.

The main card will also include two 10-round fights: Junior Lightweights Andres Cortes opposite Abraham Nova in the co-main event and middleweight candidates Troy Isley And Javier Martinezwho were amateur rivals, competed against each other in the opening game.

Espinosa (24-0, 20 KOs), 30, was relatively unknown before his dramatic surprise victory over Robey Ramirez in December, a Fight of the Year contender in 2023, where both fighters were knocked down and Espinosa won by majority decision.

Although an immediate rematch with Ramirez was originally planned, Espinosa decided to defend his title. He will fight Chirinowhile Ramirez (13-2, 8 KOs) is scheduled for June 29. If both win, a rematch is expected in the fall, according to Top Rank.

Chirino (22-1, 13 KOs), 29, suffered his only defeat by second-round knockout in 2018 against Mauricio Larawho later won the WBA featherweight title.

In the co-main event Abraham Nova (23-2, 16 KOs), 30, of Albany, New York, will face Andres Cortes (21-0, 12 KOs), 26, of Las Vegas, in a highly anticipated junior lightweight bout.

Espinosa can be Mexico’s next big champion, but he has a difficult task in Chirino. Andres Cortes And Abraham Nova is a great fight for revenge and the winner will be in a great position to fight for the world title.”

How much is the prize money for this week's boxing match?

The stock exchange for the upcoming battle between Espinosa And Chirino has not yet been announced.
