IPAF – the International Powered Access Federation – has published its Global Safety Report for accidents in 2023 exclusively in digital format.
The report examines the leading causes of serious injuries and fatalities associated with the use of various types of aerial work platforms, including aerial work platforms, mast climbing platforms and construction hoists.

Although they are one of the safest types of work at height equipment, safety still depends on effective management and monitoring, as well as a trained operator and well-maintained equipment.

The press release states: “IPAF works closely with its network of members, manufacturers, rental companies, dealers, contractors and users to identify new safety trends and challenges. Through data analysis and knowledge sharing, we conduct targeted advisory and training initiatives to improve safety standards across the industry.”

“We encourage you to view the report at ipaf.org/gsr2024 and join us in promoting safety in the MEWP industry. We welcome feedback and suggestions for future editions from our valued members. Please complete our Global Safety Report 2024 survey and if you have any further questions, contact Brian Parker on [email protected]

Vertical Commentary

This year's report is excellent – clean, clear and very informative – it's packed with information and data, all easily accessible and very easy to understand. Along with tips and useful safety information. It also shows trends over the past three and ten years to allow easy comparison to 2023.

We strongly recommend that anyone who uses or owns MEWPs read or watch the report – it is very informative. Hopefully it will also encourage more people to report any incidents they are aware of to contribute to future reports.
