Before the 2024 season, her second full season on the Epson Tour, Brooke Matthews had never finished an event in the top 10. That quickly changed for the former University of Arkansas Razorback, who tied for eighth at the Natural Charity Classic in Florida, the season opener. The start to the season reflected how far Matthews' game has evolved since she last teed off in an Epson Tour event.

While Matthews' 2023 season ended strong with three of the final four cuts but no top-20 finishes, her 2024 season began with a significant breakthrough. She earned her first top-10 finish in Winter Haven, Florida, it was the first of four top-10 finishes and marked a crucial turning point in her career. The Midwest stretch was particularly successful, with three top-10 finishes in a four-week span, including a career-best second-place finish at the FireKeepers Casino Hotel Championship, followed by a tied third-place finish at the Otter Creek Championship.

Matthews attributes her recent success to her coach, saying, “I think my game is in the right place at the right time. I work hard at home with my coach as well. I started with a shared second place in Battle Creek, which boosted my confidence, and I was able to back it up with a third place in Otter Creek, which was nice.”

The final event of the leg was held in Garden City, Kas. After missing a cut at the Island Resort Championship, Matthews was hoping to make amends to close out the grueling four-week stretch. She played consistently throughout the week, managing three consecutive rounds under par. Her best performance of the week came in the final round, which earned her seventh place in the tournament and a top 10 spot in the Race for the Card.

Looking back on her performance at the Island Resort Championship, where she missed the cut by one point, Matthews remained optimistic. She acknowledged that she “landed on the off-side of the wave, but was happy to come back with some strong rounds in Garden City.”
