SAN FRANCISCO – Authorities in San Francisco said they rescued a young girl and arrested a suspect following an attempted kidnapping at Powell Street Station Tuesday night.

According to BART police, officers received a call around 8 p.m. about a man who forcibly dragged a girl out of the station and put her in a vehicle.

“Witness statements confirmed the original report, and surveillance video from the Powell Street Station showed the incident, including the suspect's forcible removal of the woman from the station,” police said in a statement.

After the incident, the teenager's parents reported her missing.

At around 3 a.m. Wednesday, San Francisco police found the suspect and a vehicle connected to the case. The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Jamall Blue, was taken into custody.

The teenager was also found early Wednesday, police said. She was referred to the youth welfare office.

Further details about the incident were not immediately available.

According to the San Francisco Sheriff's Office, Blue is being held without bail in the San Francisco County Jail.
