RED BANK, N.J. (WABC) – Police in New Jersey are investigating a double shooting that left one person dead in Red Bank.

It happened around 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday on River Street.

A second person who was shot is said to have been injured, but the extent of their injuries is not yet known.

Officials said that while there is no suspect in custody, Red Bank police do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public.

According to witnesses, the suspect fled the house after the shooting.

Neighbors said the victims had only recently moved into the home and police had been called to the house on other occasions.

Residents were asked to avoid the area as investigators spent hours in the heat. The sidewalk in front of the house was covered in yellow crime scene markers.
