COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (KKTV) – Police say the owners of a stolen truck are now facing charges themselves after tracking down the vehicle and taking matters into their own hands.

Shortly after 10 a.m. Wednesday morning, officers were called to the area of Wooten and Platte for a report of shots fired.

“Officers identified numerous witnesses and pointed to video surveillance footage that indicated a suspect shot one victim and then forcibly removed another from the scene,” a Colorado Springs Police lieutenant said.

Upon further investigation, the lieutenant said, officers learned that the incident involved a stolen pickup truck belonging to the suspects in the kidnapping and shooting.

“It was later determined that the suspects followed their stolen vehicle to the crime scene. When they found the truck, a commotion ensued. The owner of the stolen truck chased the male occupant of his truck and fired a handgun at him. At this point, no one appeared to have been hit. The suspect then abducted the female occupant of his stolen truck and had her show him possible locations of the first victim, the man who had fled.”

Officers located the suspects and the kidnapping victim in the 3500 block of Ironwood Place, approximately 3.5 miles from the original crime scene. The suspects were arrested; their identities were not released at the time of this writing.

Police have not released any information about whether the victims of the shooting and kidnapping stole the truck. The investigation into the entire incident is ongoing.
