PORTLAND, Oregon (KPTV) – A 30-year-old man killed in a shooting in the Mt. Scott-Arleta neighborhood last month has been identified by Portland police.

On the night of June 27, officers were called to a disturbance in the 5900 block of Southeast 82nd Avenue. When officers arrived, it was reported that shots were fired and a man had been shot.

When officers arrived, they found Hunter Sutherland Lantz Hecker dead at the scene.

The coroner confirmed that Hecker was killed by a gunshot.


The Portland Police Bureau is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred late Thursday night in the Mt. Scott-Arleta neighborhood.

A lawyer for the victim's family said Hecker attended culinary school and worked at some of Portland's best restaurants.

In a statement, the attorney said: “Hunter's gentle soul, kind heart and love for his craft left a lasting impression on all who knew him. His smile and joy for life will be forever missed by his family and friends who cherished him dearly.”

No arrests have been made so far and investigations are ongoing.
